On a very cold wet Sunday morning Broadstreet under 9’s turned in a super performance to overturn a strong running direct Atherstone under 9’s.
Two matches were agreed between the coaches on a very narrow pitch which looked to favour the larger boys in the Atherstone squad.
The early exchanges saw both sXides complete 7 tackles to obtain regular turnovers on the small pitch. Towards the end of the half Street adopted a pass before contact policy which began to stretch and probe the Atherstone defence.A close 1st half ended with Street leading by the only score of the half.Street continued to stretch Atherstone, mixing up their passing style long and short which saw them close out the 1st half with three more scores. Final score 0-20.
Street now full of confidence let loose. Kial looked dangerous all morning with his noticeable changes of pace, Ollie G woke up and dotted down 5 times in the two matches! Joe and Masonenforced the midfield with their brave tackling and snaffled any loose ball, Ollie H (2) and Euanadopted the no nonsense direct approach which led to tries for both. Sam and Danny both added nicely taken tries. Freddie ran elusively and a top morning’s work for Louis who not only tackled faultlessly but made some searing run’s testing the Atherstone defence. Credit to the opposition who scored 4 tries and tackled well throughout, their Captain looked a fine player. Final score 20-50.
A Great morning, Street’s play brightened up a gloomy day for all the Mum’s and Dad’s.The boy’s are taking the hard work on the training paddock onto the playing pitch. Well Done!
