Broadstreet’s 3rd XV to take on Barkers’ Butts and Warwickians this weekend.
Street’s 3rds will be hoping that the recent upturn in the number of players available to play, will continue and increase further. With twenty-eight players available for the opening 2015 fixture last weekend and a number of others known to be away, the ‘Tinkerman’, hotfoot from being plied with uisce beatha, potcheen and Guinness while over in Éirinn during the festive period, has set his sights on fulfilling two fixtures this coming weekend.
Danny ‘Tinkerman’ Rowan has elected to play Barker’s Butts RFC 2nds and Warwickian RFC 1sts on Saturday 10th January 2015. Both games will be away and this particularly helps Warwickian, who have recently had to withdraw from the Warwickshire League.
In an attempt to keep as many ‘Street players occupied as possible, Broadstreet 3rds will make the trip to the other side of town to take on Barkers’ Butts in what is always a keenly contested local derby, while fielding a second side at Hampton Road, Warwick. It’s unfortunate that both are away matches, but Warwickian are going through a particularly difficult patch and need as much support, playing-wise and money-wise to keep going. Any assistance that can be provided on the pitch or by buying at their bar, will be welcomed.
With ‘Street having fielded virtually two different sides last weekend - one for each half of the game versus Stoke Old Boys, hastily switched at the last minute from waterlogged Brookvale Avenue to the Ivor Preece Field, Danny has the confidence to send out two teams this weekend.
So, even if you haven’t played recently, please dust off those boots and come along to play this Saturday. Meet time at the ‘Street is 12:45 pm and Danny will do his utmost to make sure everyone gets game time.
