CB School of Rugby Coach Role Description & Person Specification

The Warwickshire School of Rugby (SoR) coach will deliver a player  development programme to a prescribed group of players, in line with the guidelines and protocols established by the RFU’s Player Development Committee and SoR Implementation Group.

The coach is responsible for developing all players’ technical skills and tactical appreciation of the game through high quality coaching and feedback to players.

To be highly effective the coach must be able to commit to delivering regularly to a specific group of players.

Coaching Skills & Knowledge

The Warwickshire school of rugby coach must:

1. Be qualified to a minimum of Level 2 or equivalent coaching qualification in rugby union;

2. Plan and deliver high quality player development sessions;

3. Review and reflect upon own coaching performance, and with the RFU Trainer identify an action plan for improvement;

4. Deploy a player-centred approach within the delivery of coaching sessions;

5. Demonstrate high quality observation and feedback skills;

6. Provide feedback and action plans to players in line with SoR policies;

7. Commit to regularly coaching a specific group of players;

8. Demonstrate high personal standards of performance and conduct whilst working with players;

9. Demonstrate through their coaching, an understanding of RFU safeguarding requirements & protocols;

10. Possess a current and valid enhanced CRB disclosure.

The Warwickshire School of Rugby (SoR) are looking to recruit a number of new coaches to assist with the ongoing development of young players at the School of Rugby.

The SoR is an RFU initiative to help identify players at age groups U13 to U16 with potential to develop into the best players in the County and Country. It is a step towards the England RFU academy based at Worcester Warriors. The SoR is not based on team performance but on coaching individual players to develop the best talent. It is not the same as the Warwickshire age group squads but by inference most players at the SoR should also be involved in the CB squads.
