Broadstreet Rugby Club Bavarian Evening
Broadstreet's Bavarian Night
Or The German Evening !!

For the people too young to remember the war , the photograph above identifies two distinct German uniforms. The uniform on the left is more identifiable as Germans in the town of Coventry still to this day wear that style of uniform reguarly on a Saturday, the other is Herr Flick is an officer of the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police during World War II.
Another great night down at the Rugby Road Ivor Preece centre on Saturday evening entertained by Karls Bavarian Brass an enthusiastic four piece band that recreate the thigh-slapping magic and energy of the Hoffbrauhaus! and Broadstreets very own Herr Otto Flick. There seemed to be our very own version of Broadstreets got talent going on. We had Nigel Bonas filling in for the band with
'Wieviel ist das Hündchen im Fenster,
Der mit dem waggley Schwanz?
Wieviel ist das Hündchen im Fenster?
Ich hoffe, dass doggie's zum Verkauf.'
Josh Loach Smith and John Brown were both appointed team captains in the 'Street cellar bar. The Band being locally connected to the club as the lead singer was Malc Georges grandad, and his partner in crime the judge
was a little bit younger at around 89 years old.
The numbers filled up the cellar bar quite quickly with both tables fully occupied, Ethan Griffiths took part in the mechano course put on by Gary 'Helga' Challis. Loachy and Browny encouraged their teams to outsing, outsway and out drink. John Brown starred and selected Susan Thatcher up for the drinking competition (Those that know here will be well aware that she is the designated driver) , He pulled out all the stops playing a tactical replacement and Janice had drank her half pint by about the count of 4. Plenty of dancing singing and swaying was intermixed with
plenty of drinking at times.
I wasn't
sure whether SS-Sturmbannführer Herr Flick was going to fall through the table but he managed to get away with it. Banging the tables and swaying was moving the beer around quite well, assisted by everyone dancing like monkeys to the jungle book. It was a great display of different fancy dress costumes, Gary 'Helga' Challis was the most frightening as I am sure Deano tried to chat him up a couple of times as the night went on claiming he was The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies.. Nigel was noted to be demonstrating how to wear a bavarian hat or a strange sort of gangsta style.
