After Trinity Guild 2s cried off Daventry agreed to travel late on Friday evening. Daventry 3s were an experienced heavy side and posed a huge ask for our hastily thrown together Badgers. After Daventry open the scoring Cov Uni's Steve Devoy replied out wide showing some great pace to beat the Daventry cover.
Badgers 5 - Daventry 7.
A loose pass allowed Daventry in again before returning Simon Skene chipped, chased, recovered and scored. Badgers 10 - Daventry 14.
Struggling in the scrumage Street were forced to run everything, and Street number 9 William Vedreire made superb use of any scrap of possession, however another loose pass from the Badgers meant we trailed 10 - 19 at half time.
Some great line out work fom colts Backrowers Shaun & Jamie, a silky move from the Milk-Man, and some great suport from James Downes B.A and Police sniper Jocky Andrews, led to Steve Devoy's second and Street's last score of the day. Badgers 17 - Daventry 19.
Daventry scored late on to finish the game off. Badgers 17 - Daventry 24.
There were impessive debuts from Cov Uni's Josh McShane, Dave Lewis, Steve Devoy & fullback Charles Great, and great work from 17 year-old Colts Jamie Shaun & Sal. Plus, a welcome return for Will Venard, Conrad Rowlands, Mark Segal & Simon Skene, who along with Mark Atkinson had a go in the Backrow.
Great game of Rugby to watch, all credit to Daventry to travel so late in the day, and loads more Guys to push for higher honours.
