Aspire is a National Charity providing practical support , funding and advice to people with spinal chord injuries in the UK and Ireland.
Their support includes specially adapted houses, providing grants for lightweight wheelchairs or specialist equipment and advice from their experienced independent Living Officers.
Aspire changes lives!
Spinal Cord Injury has a devastating effect on the 1,200 people who become paralysed each year. The individual affected will lose muscle and sensory control and the vast majority become full time wheelchair users for the rest of their lives.
I am attempting to swim the distance of the English Channel (22 miles) in my local pool over the next 12 week period and raise money for Aspire and people with spinal cord injuries.
The 10th Anniversary Swim take place between the 14th September to 6th December 2009 and I can visit the pool as many times as I feel necessary to swim the distance within the time frame.

If I can obtain enough pledges then hopefully I can raise enough money to help this valid cause. To make it a little more interesting if you send me your predicted finish date, there will be a prize for the nearest prediction. As I am not expecting the tides to be a factor at Warwick University I intend to complete the swim in under the 12 weeks.
