Subject: Rugby World Cup 2015

I am delighted to be able to tell you that today the International Rugby Board Council voted for England to be the host for the Rugby World Cup 2015. The process has been long and challenging and many Rugby Football Union staff have worked long and hard to get to this point but I think you will all agree that the prize has been worth it. In 6 years time we will host the third largest sport event on the planet and have promised to host the best Rugby World Cup in history – a challenge worthy of all our talents. It truly will be an opportunity for England, and the Rugby Football Union, to create a festival of rugby that will excite players, supporters and the global TV audience with Twickenham at the heart of the action. We can’t wait to get going but for the moment we will enjoy the honour of being awarded the tournament. I would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting us in our bid and I look forward to talking you through the details when we next meet.

Regards Francis
