The RFU recently issued an important notice in relation to Game Regulation 7.2 and 7.3. The International Rugby Board has ruled that it is not permissible under the new law for the referee to require that an additional player be removed from the field of play when a front row player is temporarily or permanently suspended (i.e. a yellow or red card) causing uncontested scrums.
 
As such the attached should now be considered as the RFU Game Regulations 7.2 and 7.3 for the 2009/10 Season and the previous notice and the version in RFU Handbook 2009/10 on page 206 – 207 should be ignored.
 
For ease of reference a table which summarises how the new Regulation works in practice is also attached.
