DAVE WILKINSON
Fixture Secretary for Twenty Years
At the conclusion of this season - 2009/2010 - Dave Wilkinson will have completed 20 years as Broadstreet Rugby Club Fixture Secretary. A magnificent achievement demanding great attention to detail, timing, communication and total reliability in getting the job done; also requiring an ability to work alone, at home and invariably during the evenings at times when most of us are looking to relax.
Personally, I know that Dave contributed to our climb up the leagues during the nineties in securing fixtures against opposition from higher leagues, most of which had previously looked upon us as too weak to be entertained. Playing better ‘friendlies’ accelerated our progress, and made us more successful league competitors, as a result.
Great testament should be paid also to Roz, Dave’s wife for her tolerance of all the telephone calls and her loyal assistance in acting as telephonist and message taker. A big thank you Roz!
Additionally, Dave, supported by Roz, steered two age groups through minis and juniors during the same period, handing them on, understandably with great reluctance, at Colts level.
Thank you Dave! Few have done more.
