Broadstreet have signed flyhalf Cameron Pimlow and backrow Stewart Hendry. The two players add extra depth to Broadstreet who in the season’s opener secured a bonus point away win against last year’s promotion chasers Luton RFC.

Cameron Pimlow

cameron-pimlow-Flyhalf Cameron Pimlow hails from Tewkesbury and attended RGS Worcester, a traditionally strong rugby school, where his performances brought him to the attention of the Worcester Warriors academy. Studying civil engineering at university, he is a regular for the university Rugby team who play in the BUCS Premiership (South). Cameron has previously played in National III Midlands for Malvern RFC two years ago but was drawn to Broadstreet because of their ambition to play at a higher standard.

Stewart Hendry

stewart-hendryStewart Hendry is a utility backrow and currently lives in Gloucester, he spent his youth playing rugby at National 1 side Cinderford. He was not registered to play in time for the Luton match but impressed Broadstreet 2nds during their narrow loss to Northampton Old Scouts RFC 1sts. At 6’3 and 18 stone he has an impressive physique by it is his ferocious attitude on the pitch which sets him apart and has also earnt him the nickname Mongo.

Broadstreet have suffered poorly at the hands of other clubs and lost a raft of key players to rivals in higher leagues over the summer. However, the opening matches of the season are a testimony to the strength of the club, a strong victory for the 1sts was underpinned by a narrow loss for the 2nds to a Midlands Two 1st team (i.e the same level as Barkers Butts and Earlsdon), whilst the 3rds gave a huge thumping to National 2 side Hinkley 3rds.

The coaching staff have managed to build a strong side at short notice by promoting a number of players from the second team and by recruiting excellently, meaning that Broadstreet will enter this weekends league match against Sheffield Tigers with a stronger squad than last years National 2 campaign.
