Return Of the Mak

Broadstreet are pleased to announce that Nigel Mukarati and Gary Challis have returned to the club on loan from Coventry Rugby Club. Unfortunately, both players were not given the opportunity to make an impact on National 1 with Coventry and, after a brief sojourn on the bench for struggling Rugby Lions, the Broadstreet coaching team have worked hard to forge an arrangement to return the players to us. This is a major boost for the club after the poor loss to Bromsgrove last Saturday and Nigel’s immediate inclusion in the side to face Hereford allows Nick Pratt to move up to his preferred position of 2nd row after doing a sterling job filling in for us at 8. Gary Challis will be playing in the 2nds against Derby after registration was not pushed through in time.
Broadstreet’s dearth of specialised tight-head props has been amended with the signing of Demetri Theofanou. 23 year old Demi is a Coventry kid who attended Bablake School and played regularly for Coventry and Warwickshire at age group levels before moving down to Bath to attend University. Whilst at Bath he represented the University’s 1st XV in the BUCS premiership and made a name for himself as an excellent scrummager and strong ball carrier, he will be a welcome addition to the 1st XV squad.
