Broadstreet RFC Backrower Stewart Hendry remains injured, but Cameron Pimlow, Carl Southwell and Tom Greevy are set to return to face Old Northamptonians RFC.

As ever in the world of rugby, just as he was about to rest easy looking forward to a relatively clean bill-of-health following last Saturday’s defeat of Kenilworth RFC, Broadstreet Coach Tom Hoines now has to deal with the unexpected loss of top scorer Tom Stokes who has been ordered to have a period of complete rest.  Also, the hoped-for return of Number 8 Stewart Hendry has not materialised as he continues to be confined to the treatment room, all this being compounded by Backrower Damian ‘Dago’ Taylor now having to resort the advice of a Specialist.

On the upside, these blows are tempered somewhat by the impending return to fitness of mercurial Fly Half Cameron Pimlow, a candidate to assume kicking duties during Tom’s enforced absence, who together with Hooker Carl Southwell and Utility Forward Tom Greevy, is confident of being given the all-clear by Physio Tim Trevail for this weekend’s trip to  Old Northamptonians RFC.

Also in the treatment room are Tighthead Prop Nick Bingham and Utility Back Jordan Simpson both of who, after a few weeks out, may need another week of recovery time or a run-out in the Second Team.

Outstanding performers in the Second Team in recent weeks include Wing Dan ‘Kemo’ Phillips, Backrower Chris Dodd, his brother Scrum Half Jamie Dodd and Second Row James ‘Rooky’ Rooke.  They are knocking at the door, so there’s no room for complacency from anyone.

Hoinsey’s Training Methods meet with Approval.

Feedback is that training nights are proving a major hit, with the majority of the players actually ENJOYING them thoroughly.  Tom Hoines' routines are far from it - they are CERTAINLY NOT ROUTINE.  There’s a tremendous amount of variation with new and innovative themes and challenges.  In the midst of all the serious stuff of fitness maintenance & improvement, player skill enhancement and team organisation, there’s plenty of hilarity while ‘trying to go that one step further’ with Tom at the helm.

Tom Hoines would seem to have an embarrassment of riches for the Hooker spot with legend Carl 'Carlos' Southwell, recent newcomer Ciaran Price and last week’s debutant from the bench Dave ‘SteveO’ Irvine all vying for a starting place. Following successful spells with more senior clubs in the locality Carlos joined the Street four years ago and has provided sterling service ever since.  Pushing him for his position are debutants this season Ciaran and SteveO, both of whom came via Rugby Lions RFC

............ or is it Four?

Now we hear on the rumour-mill that Michael ‘Micky’ Hewitt also wants a piece of the action with a return to the fold.  The battle intensifies.....
