Good luck to Cameron Pimlow who has been snapped up by Beddau RFC after a short but productive stint with us, Beddau are towards the top of Welsh Division 1 (a similar standard to Coventry’s National 1) so the move is a positive step forward for the 21 year old. This, however, once again leaves a gaping hole in the starting line up at fly-half, so it was left to scrum- half Mark Schropfer to try his hand in the position, allowing Thatch to continue at 9. Brett Chatwin moves into the centre to fill in for Andy Skene which allowed Dan Phillips to start on the wing. Chris Zutic earns his first start since moving to ‘Street from Earlsdon and Carl Southwell comes in at hooker at the expense of Ciaran Price.
Andy Tee took over the kicking duties for the match and was called upon in the first minute after Scunthorpe RFC were judged offside after the opening phases of play, his kick from distance notched up 3 points and began an excellent kicking display. 5 minutes later any question marks about whether Shroff could fill in at 10 were duly answered when he ghosted through the Scunthorpe defensive line, breaking clear from his own half before banging out a great 20 metre pass into the hands of Matty Fielder who won the race to the corner. Tetley added the extras with an excellent conversion from the touchline Broadstreet RFC 10- Scunthorpe RFC 0
Scunthorpe had an opportunity to close the gap but flyhalf Mark Woollard surprisingly missed what was his easiest kicking position of the day but he made up for this just minutes later when he slotted a penalty from 40 metres plus. On the 20 minute mark, some extended pressure from the Broadstreet forwards near the

With 5 minutes to go, Broadstreet built a bigger buffer sending themselves in comfortable leaders at half-time, having probably played their most complete half of rugby this season. The back-line looked threatening and Shroff distributed well from 10 whilst the forwards set up phase after phase of good platform’s which allowed them to play. This was exemplified by the final try of the half, Chatwin scythed through the

The horror start to the second half was a flashback to the Bromsgrove game, where a similar spell of poor play gave the opposition an insurmountable lead which kept ‘Street from competing for a vital league win. If we are going to be serious promotion contenders then periods of play like that can never happen again. On a lighter note Broadstreet halted

With 20 minutes to go Scunthorpe looked out of the game despite the close score-line, this was compounded when they were reduced to 14 men when prop Sydall was sent off for ‘tripping’ (surprisingly) Ed Simkiss after ‘Street had been held up over the line and were walking back to the attacking scrum. Simkiss rubbed salt in the wound when, after Nigel had powered off the base of the scrum, he latched on to the second phase ball and stumbled over the line. Broadstreet RFC 44 - Scunthorpe RFC 34
With 10 minutes to go Ben Dawes put the game out of reach in standard fashion and crashed through a couple of tackles after picking the ball from the base of the ruck, there was a raft of backs waiting for the ball outside him but I think they knew they weren’t getting a sniff. Brett Chatwin added to his total at the top of the try scorers list when he wrapped up a threatening game at outside centre and the scoring with an easy try after the
