Broadstreet RFC entertain Malvern RFC at the Ivor Preece Field Rugby Ground on a Fundraising Day for Myton Hospice.

'Broadstreet-RFC-Super-SaturdaySuper Saturday’ at the Street is a tribute to Fazza in aid of Myton Hospice. Myton Hospice provides Specialist Palliative Care for patients with advanced progressive life-limiting illness free of charge. The Hospice relies on voluntary donations to raise the money needed to provide this very special kind of care and as such is a registered charity. If you are able to make it to the Street at any time during this special day, please give generously. For further information please see click on Super Saturday at Broadstreet RFC.

We welcome Malvern RFC who finished 12th of 14 in National League 3 Midlands last season and ordinarily would have been relegated to Midlands One West (Level Six). However, due to the demise of Mounts Bay RFC, a vacancy was left in National Two South (Level Four) and the resulting cascade effect saved Malvern from the drop.
Very wisely Malvern decided to beef-up their coaching and playing strength with the recruitment of a number of experienced players including ex-Leicester Tigers Centre Adam Billig and ex-Worcester Player/Coach Tommy Hayes who frequently turns up at Fly Half or Full Back. Tommy had two seasons with Coventry RFC·before joining the Spring Lane outfit. Our good friend OJ (aka Owen Jones) who started last season at the Street has returned to Malvern, but unfortunately he’s been struck down with a recurrence of the back problem that forced him to sit out most of the last campaign - he could well be out for the rest of this season also. In a player exchange arrangement with Melbourne University, No.8 Mikey Lau Leong has recently also been added to the playing resources.

This season tries are coming predominantly from the Backs, with the best contribution in the league at Half Back from Scrum Half Tom Longley. Tries have come in equal measure too from Wing James Aston and Flanker Simon Dawes – Fly Half Adam Dixon again has kicking responsibilities. Interestingly, Malvern have been awarded three Penalty Tries - the highest in the division. Malvern may be in mid-table position, but they had a stand-out result against our local rivals Kenilworth RFC, winning 50-19 at Glasshouse Lane and any team that can come away from Newport RFC’s Forton Road HQ with a win, just has to be respected. The game kicks-off at 3:00pm. For Street’s selection issues Broadstreet Use 29 Players With Thatcher, Dawes, Dearden And Fielder In Every Game.
kettering-rugby-club-logoStreet Seconds entertain Kettering RFC Seconds in a friendly match starting at 2:15pm. The Seconds will be licking their wounds following last Saturday’s second half capitulation against Kenilworth RFC in a Midlands Invitation Premiership League. As a consequence, Street have now dropped to second place in the league. Broadstreet-RFC-Second-Team-Action-Image
Broadstreet-RFC-Third-Team-The-Beavers-Image Street Thirds, the Beavers take on Leamington RFC Seconds in a Warwickshire League 1·game switched from Kenilworth Road, Leamington to add to the excitement of ‘Super Saturday’. The Beavers will be upbeat following their late winner against Old Laurentians RFC·Seconds last weekend. This game starts at 2:15pm.
Broadstreet-RFC-Colts-Logo Street Colts face Moseley RFC Colts in the Round Three of the National Colts Cup at 1:15pm on the main pitch, pitch 1. The winners will progress to a home draw in Round Four against the winners of the Shrewsbury RFC vs. Old Coventrians RFC tie being played on Sunday. Street prepared well last weekend with a fine, but narrow win against Southam RFC Colts in a Warwickshire U19s Merit League·fixture.
