First Time Win For Broadstreet RFC At Newport RUFC. |
|
| With the pinnacle of their previous endeavours in Shropshire being a paltry draw, Coventry rugby club Broadstreet RFC convincingly triumph at Newport (Salop) RUFC in a National League 3 Midlands fixture at the Old Showground, Forton Road to finally return to Coventry with a feather in their cap. This game, however, is a story of two completely different sessions with Street racing out of the starting blocks to earn a four-try bonus point inside thirty minutes and take a 31-0 advantage into the second half. With knowledge of the Fishes remarkable turnaround at South Leicester RFC the previous weekend, it's fairly obvious that this is still likely to be a battle to the very end. Newport do not disappoint and spend almost half an hour camped on the Street line. | ![]() |
| Street's stubborn defence is eventually broken following a reduction to fourteen men, when Street's replacement Jamie Dodd, trots on and is promptly yellow carded for a technical offence. With the Street again down to fourteen (yes, another replacement - Nick Pratt), Newport score a second try on the final whistle to claim the second half 12-7, but Street celebrate the capture of five league points with 38-12 victory. | |

Street Beavers, having had their away league match on 21st November switched to the Ivor Preece Field Rugby Ground as part of Super Saturday, make the trip to Moorefields, Kenilworth Road to face Leamington RFC for the return fixture. Street come out on top with a 69-8 victory and with Old Laurentians RFC winning handsomely at Spartans RFC, the championship battle is obviously going to go to the wire. | ||||||
