Dudley Kingswinford RFC 17 V Broadstreet RFC 24
After arriving with only half an hour to prepare, with no shirts and team selection uncompleted preparation for this Colts rugby fixture was poor to say the least.
The opposition voiced their views and opinions which only served to galvanise the squad of rugby players who switched on immediately at the first blow of the referees whistle.
With a quick start and some intense pressure exerted with some fine control, Broadstreet colts put the first points on the board.
The 'Rabble' had the hosts rattled and questioning where all of the structure had come from. Broadstreet capitalised and slipped into the next gear and scoring a converted try to stretch the lead.
Dudley Kingswinford colts responded immediately and with direct phase play forced the Street into defence mode which became stretched and resulted in a DK penalty which was duly converted.
This appeared to fire Broadstreet's resolve and following some intense play from both teams saw Street score again only for Dk's to secure three penalties and stay in touch
Half Time: Dudley Kingswinford RFC 12 - Broadstreet RFC 17
After some quiet reflection a plan for the second half was hatched and substitutions made. The Broadstreet Colts had taken onboard the plan and after pressure from both teams broke away only to be denied by indiscipline and resolute defence but left with a well taken penalty.
Dudley Kingswinford then bossed the game in all departments but the Street defence and some fortunate decisions saw DK's fail to breach the line but a lapse in Street discipline saw DK's score an unconverted try to keep up the pressure.
With the end nearing, structured phases saw the Street cross and convert for one final time.
