A Day At Longton RFC For Broadstreet RFC To Forget. |
|
| Coventry rugby club Broadstreet RFC return from a cold and breezy Sir Stanley Matthews Way, Trentham Fields having been soundly beaten 7-50 by an athletic Longton RFC side in a National League 3 Midlands fixture. Much could be made of the fact that a number of Street stalwarts are missing, but Longton are in fine fettle throughout, stealing a significant number of lineouts to deny Street vital possession. Street's Pack certainly have the edge in the set scrum and generally match Longton in rucks and mauls, but all-in-all are beaten by a better side. | ![]() |

Street Seconds travel to Old Laurentians RFC for a Semi-final of the Warwickshire 2nd XV Cup at Lime Tree Avenue, Bilton. Intense rivalry between the two sides ensures a lively encounter, but Street come through 26-21. Street should have won more convincingly with the talent at their disposal, but whereas OLs played as a team with some impressive rucking and mauling, too may Street players try to go it alone. This, combined with a high handling-error count, mean that Street never secure a convincing lead, thus leaving OLs always in the hunt. | |||||||
| Nuneaton Old Edwardians RFC call off the game against Street Beavers at Ivor Preece Field Rugby Ground . We shouldn't be surprised though, as Nuneaton Old Edwardians RFC did exactly the same thing last weekend, crying off at 1:15 pm against Kenilworth RFC. Street Beavers change back out of their kit and retire to the bar in frustration. | ![]() |
