USA And Canada At Broadstreet RFC For Churchill Cup.
Canada now joined by USA Eagles at Broadstreet RFC.
Broadstreet RFC's Ivor Preece Field Rugby Ground has been selected by Canada to be the Midlands training base for the Canadian National Squad to prepare for the Churchill Cup.
.
Now in its ninth year, the Churchill Cup - an alliance between the Rugby Football Union, Rugby Canada and USA Rugby – will take place in England, rather than its traditional North American base for the first time since 2007. The Churchill Cup, named in honour of Sir Winston Churchill, is the regular summer competition between the second string of 'A' list rugby playing nations such as England, Ireland Scotland and New Zealand who pit their skills against developing and emerging rugby nations with the express intention of developing and growing the sport of Rugby Union across the North American continent.
With the Rugby World Cup starting in September, this year’s Churchill Cup provides an ideal pre-tournament team warm up opportunity for the participants to knock on the selectors’ door to represent their country in New Zealand.

The 2011 Churchill Cup sees Tonga and Italy A make their debut in the competition joining title holders England Saxons, Canada, Russia, and USA Eagles. The pool games will be played at Northampton Saints' Franklin's Gardens, Esher Rugby's Moseley Road Ground and Gloucester Rugby's Kingsholm Stadium. Rugby Canada start on 4th June against Italy A at Franklin's Gardens with the final stages of the tournament being held at Worcester Warriors' HQ at the Sixways Stadium.
As part of the hosting arrangement with Broadstreet RFC, Canada Rugby will conduct or assist with Junior and Colt coaching & development sessions during their two week stay at the Ivor Preece Field Rugby Ground.
