Warwick and Birmingham Universities bear fruit.  

Broadstreet RFC have managed to take advantage of the close proximity of Coventry's Warwick University by securing the services of Pete Bicknell for the coming season.  Although Pete is naturally a Wing, he is equally at home at Centre due to his large frame and is also comfortable at Full Back.  23 year old Pete is in the final throes of his Masters Degree and having originated from Southam, will be staying in the area after its completion.

Despite being 6 ft 1 in tall and almost 15 stone, Pete first shone as a talented Sevens player and represented Warwickshire County in this format whilst a Colt.  Whilst studying Pete has been playing for Warwick University's 1st XV in BUCS Premiership B.  Pete managed to catch the eye of the Warwickshire County selectors in the Spring and was included in the 2011 squad, but playing against Coventry Nighthawks in a warm-up match in preparation for the Bill Beaumont Cup, suffered an injury which kept him out of the County Championship.

In addition to Bicknell, Broadstreet also confirm the signing of 22 year old Josh Weaver from Birmingham University.  Josh hails from Coventry and attended King Henry VIII school where his performances at Number 8 warranted his selection to the Warwickshire U18s side that went undefeated throughout the Regional County Championships.  After entering Birmingham University, Josh managed to secure a spot in the Birmingham University 1st XV and played at the highest level of University Rugby, BUCS Premiership A.

Having now finished University and secured a job locally, Josh is relishing the opportunity of getting stuck into adult rugby by taking on National 3 Midlands in the upcoming season.  Josh naturally prefers playing at Number 8 but at 6 ft 4 in and 16 stone is a serious lineout threat, so can also operate effectively at Second Row.
