Broadstreet U16s V Rugby Lions U16s

The first game of the season saw the Street U16's welcome Rugby Lions to Ivor Preece Field.
From the start it was obvious to all that this game would be a contrast of styles, with the dominant Street pack and the outstanding Lions back three vying for possession.
It was Street who struck first, when the pack took the ball against the head in the Lions 22, and after 3 phases of excellent rucking (Prop) Kamrun Bains was driven over the line, the Try converted by (Fly Half) George Deegan, making his debut.
There was then a break in play to allow for an injury to the Lions Hooker to be attended to.
From the re-start Lions took the option to run the ball out from their own 22 and after a series of off-loads scored an excellent try.
The rest of the half was dominated by the Street pack and a great break down the blindside was rewarded with a try for (2nd Row) Tom Friswell.
HT Street 12 - 7 Lions
The 2nd half saw changes from both teams and it was Lions who settles the quicker with 2 quick tries within the first 10 minutes of the half.
Both tries coming from searing breaks and off-loading play from the Lions back line, with the Street backs tackling manfully, but running out of tacklers at the last
Street then took a grip of the game in the last 20 minutes and scored a well worked try through (replacement Flanker) Trey Williams from a line-out maul.
5 minutes from time, Lions 12 (Ex Street player Paddy Forde) put in a superb try saving tackle, which unfortunately saw him leave the field with a dislocated shoulder.
The final 2 minutes of play saw Street camped in the Lions 22, and from the last play Bains poached his 2nd try taking 3 Lions defenders over the line with him.
The conversion wad added by Deegan from the last kick of the day, giving Street a deserved draw.
