Scramble Expected As Fantasy Rugby League Transfer Window Opens.  

The Pundit is back with another update on this season's Broadstreet Fantasy League Cash Prize Competition.  With some Game Managers slow to submit their entries to be eligible for the money, information has been restricted to make sure no one has had an unfair advantage.  However "the lines are now closed" as they say in Show-Biz and we can now see who the real gems are at Broadstreet Rugby Club! 

£2 Player Transfers are coming into play on the 12th November for FazFest so check out the low down in each of the sections below: -

FRONT ROW  Big Money Ben Dawes is trying to live up to his high price tag and currently leads the way on points in the Front Row section with a trio of tries and a MoM under his belt for the 1st XV.  However, his £9 million price tag eats up a big chunk of the £100 million spend, whereas veteran Matt Dearden has been a regular in National 3 and is proving to be more than worth his cheaper fee!

Pundit's Pick - Neil Barnard: The plucky Saffa doctor has been a mainstay as captain of the 2nds and after a Visa debacle was denied the chance to make his 1st XV debut as hooker early on in October, at £3 million could be a dream pick.

SECOND ROW  18 Year old Marc Fisher has shown that when he ain't constantly talking cr@p, he ain't bad at rugby and, despite still being a Colt, has been a regular in the 2nd team at both 2nd Row and Tighthead bagging a couple of tries in the meantime.  Inconsistent availability has dented the hopes of Managers who invested heavily in last year's 1st XV lock Nick Pratt as Mike Bednell has collected more points after breaking into the 1st XV squad this year and filling his place on a number of occasions.  Managers who spent £8 million and selected Ed Simkiss based on his "Broadstreet Hero" status and the notion that he would have been near unstoppable playing in the 3rd XV have been completely dismayed by his poor 3 points earned after he broke his ribs in the first match of the season against Pinley 2nds, could be back in the mix soon though!

Pundit's Pick - Shane Stokes: At 6ft 9, new Irish signing Shane Stokes could be an answer for Broadstreet 1st XV's traditional height deficiency, though a £6 million price tag may put some off.

BACKROW  Absolute error for those who picked £12 million superstar back row Chris Dodd, his one game of the season yielded just 6 points before he ran into a wall at an indoor football game and damaged his AC shoulder ligaments. On the bright side his £12 million price tag will free up some extra monies to spend on other players if any Managers were to transfer him out on the 12th November.  New signing Will Parkes has also been useful in the Fantasy League, bagging a number of points for his efforts in the 1st XV squad but most significantly, despite being new to the club, has managed to find himself as runaway leader on the Managers Points board.  Stupid Southern Fairy!

Pundit's Pick - Chris Zutic: Looks like Chris Dodd, Acts like Chris Dodd but more importantly actually Plays like Chris Dodd (unlike Chris Dodd so far this season). 

SCRUMHALF  No surprises here, Nick Thatcher has been bossing it whilst Jordan Simpson has been one of the standout performers for the 1sts as a Utility Back with both of them being one of the top point scorers in the game. On the other hand a surprisingly popular choice of 3rd team Andy Hirons at Scrum-half has paid dividends as he has bagged a number of tries which saw him move up a team to the 2nds.

Pundits Pick - Jamie Dodd: Rather than the obvious statement of mentioning that Nick Thatcher and Jordan Simpson are quite handy, the return of Jamie Dodd after a very brief stint at the Funplop RFC in Midlands 1 means that their might be a few points hidden for a fairly cheap price.  However, there must also be some actual danger of Jamie being motivated, stranger things have happened?

FLYHALF  The distribution of kicking duties has been a pivotal Fantasy League issue with only Scott Harman in the Fly Half category being the only consistent kicking option for his team! Surely these fly-halves are going to start throwing their kicking tees out of the pram if they don't get a toe poke at posts in the near future??? 

Pundit's Pick - Adam Nailor:  At 17 years old, he has the temperament of a mercurial French International Fly Half.  He's a stroppy lad but his performances starting for the 4ths, then for the 3rds and most recently for the 2nds suggest that he has the ability to be a strong peformer for Broadstreet 1st XV in a couple of years, and most probably for your Fantasy team this season, a snip at £5 million.

CENTRES  Ross Bayston leads the way with a couple of 1st XV tries, taking advantage of the absence of other players who were considered more valuable than him in pre-season. However, Drew Hudman's almost impeccable boot for the 2nds with more than a couple 100% kicking performances (11 from 11 against Berkswell!) mean that he is almost certain to pick up some Fantasy League Points, even if he is having a bad game. Another notable player is Marco Di Maria who is back from a 2 year injury lay off and, having only played 3 games, has scored 9 tries to become the Club's top try scorer in rapid time. 

Pundit's Pick - Jamie Webb: Another newcomer from Earlsdon who should be pushing for 1st XV selection in weeks to come, has scored 8 tries in his 4 matches in the 2nds as well as a couple of MoMs.

WINGS  These glory boys should be Fantasy League gold dust, but they all seem to be letting others score the tries. Only Dan 'Chemo' Phillips has anywhere near a respectable amount of tries and his jaunts off to the likes of Ibiza mean that he hasn't been on the pitch long enough to reach last years try scoring feats.  Message to all Broadstreet wingers "MUST TRY HARDER!!!"

Pundit's Pick -Tobias 'Turbo' Rochester: Probably the fastest guy in the club, unfortunately also probably the least likely to attempt to a reach a full sprint.  However, his recent commitment to training is promising some 1st XV appearances which MIGHT lead to some tries.

FULL BACK  After 2 games and bagging loads of points Andy 'Tetley' Tee has dropped off the Broadstreet radar.  The people's choice Andy Skene is injured leaving Jon Duncan free to bring home the goodies!
