An exciting end to what was a hard fought game saw the home side Broadstreet RFC put their home form back on track after 2 previous defeats at home. With barely 3 minutes on the clock Dan Richards converted a penalty after Grimes had made an excellent break. The visitors from the North east had strayed offside giving the Street early advantage. Richards was not to miss a kick at goal all afternoon. The match continued to have plenty of to and fro in the midfield with little sign of a break through. Westoe put plenty of high balls up to test Lester the streets full back who was equal to the challenge. Broadstreet picked up the pace and applied some pressure to the visitor’s line and Richards jinked through to score by the posts after 14 minutes. He was to convert his try making the score 10-0. Westoe were pulled back into the match when some poor kicking down field led to a length of the field return with open side Arron Myers on hand to cross the line after the ball had been through several pairs of hands. Rayner was unable to make the conversion 10-5. Aidy Hall went on for the injured Owen Jones for the homside after 30 minutes and was straight into the action linking with Hersey who made an excellent break. Westoe had plenty of life in them and scored another try on the stroke of Half time when number 8 Michael Ellery broke through and raced to the line past a stationary street defence. Rayner was on hand to make the conversion.

Half Time: Broadstreet 10 pts - Westoe 12 pts

Only 3 minutes of the second had past when Westoe extended their lead. Scrum Half Peter Phelen appeared to make space and won the race to the line. Rayner added the conversion to give Westoe a 9 point lead. The Street were straight back on the attack after the resumption of play and a swift passing move along the line gave winger Greg Summers very little space, somehow he managed to cut back inside and elude 4 further tackles to score under the posts much to the elation of the home crowd. Richards had the simplest of conversions.17-19. Street were starting to take control of the match and put pressure on their opponents. Grimes who was having his best game of the season charged down a kick from just outside the 22 and gathered the ball for an excellent score. Richards added the conversion.24-19. Westoe were far from beaten when prop forward Nesbitt broke through some poor defence to score from 20 meters out after 70 minutes. Rayner missed the conversion. Richards was to get his second try of the game after 30 minutes after a break through and kick from streets skipper Eddie Simliss. He was able to add the conversion. The game was now end to end and replacement Walker broke through for the visitors to score and Rayner managed to add the conversion to make the score 31-31. With only 3 minutes left on the clock Adie Hall Broke from the scrum and made a brilliant break to out pace and beat 4 defenders to score just to the right of the posts. Richards added the conversion.
