Street's Mini rugby Coach and senior rugby player has had his running shoes on recently pounding the streets of Leamington and Warwick getting the hard miles done in preparation for his first London Marathon. Jordan Simpson is running the marathon supporting the Bliss charity for babies who are born premature or sick. This is a charity very close to Jordan and Lisa as described below on Jordan's just giving page.
Please help out if you can and cheer Jordan on to achieving his challenge.
Running a marathon has been on my list to do for many years and I have now decided to take up the challenge. It's going to be a long road and need lots of dedication to complete the race. There will be training runs in all weather and at all hours of the day.
The reason I have now decided to push myself is to raise money for the charity that was such a help when my daughter Piper was born. My wife Lisa was unknowingly carrying Group B Strep - GBS (a naturally occurring bacteria) which is something not screened for during pregnancy because of it's rarity.
Our crazy girl Piper and us have a lot to thank this charity for!!
GBS infection during pregnancy can also cause miscarriage, premature labour or still birth. GBS was passed to Piper when she was born and very quickly became ill suffering from a collapsed lung requiring sedation for her first few days. The situation worsened and she was moved to a larger special care section of a different hospital where she gradually got better.
There are no lasting effects thankfully but during that worrying time the Bliss nurses and resources were a huge help and comfort. Luckily before then we had not experienced a special care baby unit and it was very daunting. The Bliss team were great at explaining everything and keeping us going. Their work was greatly appreciated and I am hoping that whatever I can raise will go to helping other families.
Please give as much or as little as you can. I have never 'begged for donations' before and I don't intend to continue after this so this is an opportunity for me to raise as much as I can for a cause I believe in.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Back to training!!
