Paul Hurst, Broadstreet RFC Head Coach, today announced Lee Chapman as the 1st XV Captain for the 2017-18 season and Mike Worthington as Vice-Captain.
Lee, who has previously played for local rivals Nuneaton and Birmingham and Solihull, was last season’s Player of the Year sharing his time on the pitch between Fly Half and Centre. Last season he led the team in many of the first team fixtures and is very proud to be leading the team into the National Two South challenge saying ‘obviously it is a great honour to be asked to lead the team into a whole new league and places that we have not experienced before. We will be playing against new sides, meeting new acquaintances and I am sure that the boys will face up to these challenges, doing the club proud and leaving everything on the pitch. It will be an exciting season, which I am greatly looking forward to alongside current players and the new signings’
Mike captained the team when they collected the Warwickshire Cup last year. Having previously played for Sutton Coldfield this will be his fourth season at the club and will be valuable support to Lee and the rest of the team.
Hurst stated ‘ Both players embody what we are trying to achieve at Broadstreet both on and off the pitch. They are popular and command the respect of the whole squad and I look forward to working with them as we deliver another successful season for the club’.
