Daily Mail Schools Rugby Comes to Broadstreet RFC
Its getting very close to the semi finals of the Daily Mail RBS Schools Competition 2010/11 which we are proud to announce the semi finals of which are being played here in Coventry at Broadstreet RFC. School rugby teams are able to enter teams at Under 15's level and Under 18's level with the semi finals played here at the Ivor Preece Field home of Broadstreet RFC, leading on to the finals which are played at the RFU's Twickenham headquaters.

The Perse School (Cambridge)
Mr Philip Gostling (Head of Physical Education and Head of Rugby) at The Perse Upper School which has a strong sporting tradition and a commitment to 'Sport for All' and 'Sporting Excellence'.
The Perse school's main sports are Cricket, Hockey, Netball, Rugby and Tennis. From Years 7 to 9, pupils are split into ability groups, where they are coached by specialists and encouraged to progress through the groups. By Year 10 options are introduced and given to those pupils who wish not to participate in the main sport for the term. Once the pupils enter Year 11 and Sixth Form they are offered a games option and have the freedom to choose.
The Royal Grammar School High Wycombe
The RGS has a proud history and tradition of sporting provision, whether it is for the elite athlete or the beginner. Sport plays a major part in the curricular, extra curricular and social life of the school.
Sport at the Royal Grammar School fosters boys of all abilities, all of which are equally important to us. The school’s wide range of sporting activities includes inter-school matches, country and national competitions.
Our sport facilities are impressive, extensive and includes rugby pitches, indoor and outdoor cricket nets, tennis courts, astro-turf pitch, fitness suite, sports hall, grass cricket squares and an indoor swimming pool.
The RGS Sport & PE Department is a strong, enthusiastic and forward thinking team, which comprises of 6 full-time PE specialists and two PE gap students.
Truro School
Truro School has a long-standing reputation for producing rugby teams of the highest quality. The school has produced several former international players, the most recent of whom is Rob Thirlby, who toured South Africa with England in 2001. Most famous former pupil though, is perhaps the late John Kendall-Carpenter, President of the RFU and England International of over 20 caps.
The School believes that as many boys as possible should have an opportunity to represent the School at rugby. To this end Truro turns out eleven senior teams from the age of twelve. These teams play most Saturdays and Wednesdays in the Autumn Term
The School aims to facilitate academic opportunities to provide students with a depth of knowledge and an interest for those who seek a career in sport or pursue sporting studies as an end in itself.
Whitgift offers over 30 different sports with excellent facilities and coaching of the highest standard. Saturdays often see over 30 teams representing the School in various sports.
Whitgift School has a national reputation for the quality of its sporting achievement with teams regularly amongst the best in Britain. As well as participating in many regional and national competitions Whitgift has enjoyed major success most recently in last seasons U15 Daily Mail schools rugby National Final at Twickenham
A last minute three-pointer from George Fossey settled a nail-biting encounter against Beaufort Community School on Wednesday 9th February. After a pleasing first half performance, LGS went in to the break 19-12 in front, but a score in the corner for Beaufort and the superbly struck conversion meant the game was all square with 20 minutes remaining. Both teams had chances to take the lead but it took the final kick of the game to separate the sides.
Saffron Walden County HS (Essex)
saffron Walden are a Specialist school - one of the first Technology Colleges. But their ambition as a school of exceptional quality is to be as good as a Language College in Languages, as good as an Arts College in the Arts, as good as a Sports College in Sports - in short, they aspire to be as good as the best.
Stand out pupils in the U15s include Toby Hall, Fraser Goulding and Tom Cozens who have made it through to the final squad for Yorkshire

Oakham School
Oakham is justifiably proud of its sporting tradition. The School’s reputation for producing competitive teams and individuals across a range of sports and at a wide range of abilities is second to none.
Two of Oakham’s greatest recent sportsmen current England Captain “Lewis Moody got in touch as soon as he heard that we’d won and said the result was brilliant” said Oakham’s Director of Rugby Ian Smith “and I took a phone call from Stuart Broad’s step father. He was driving Stuart to the airport as he was about to depart with England to take part in the Cricket World Cup and Stuart shouted out ‘fantastic news’.
Sport and Physical Education play a central role in life at Old Swinford Hospital. They are especially proud of the performance of their teams on the national and even international stage, students are encouraged to develop their talents at all levels.
Rugby is followed passionately and the school is famous for its exploits in regional and national competitions, including the Daily Mail schools rugby Cup, regularly reaching the latter stages. The school has strong links with Worcester Rugby Club and a number of former students have progressed to the professional game.
Wilmslow High School was awarded Specialist Sports College status in September of 2003. After their official launch in January 2004 they set to work delivering a four year development plan that provides the framework for their specialism.
Fundamental to their cause is that Physical Education and Sport can enrich people's lives and that, as a school with a strong community focus, they can provide the means to a rich and healthy lifestyle. They provide an exciting and varied Physical Education programme that is taught through the four strands of the National Curriculum.
