Broadstreet RFC welcomed current RFU president and world cup winner Jason Leonard to the Ivor Preece Centre in early January to deliver a training session and open forum along with Coventry lad Danny Grewcock. Following a successful training session with the young players here at Broadstreet the England legends retired to the clubhouse to discuss through an open forum rugby union and answered questions from the ammased audience.
Danny Grewcock and Jason Leonard run the players with some lineout drills
Broadstreet also took the opportunity to officially recognise the vital parts played by volunteers within rugby union.
Club president Don Branston was recognised with a Lifetime award for more than 60 years of service to the club. I remember many a mini and junior player in the seventies possesing the 'Broadstreet Smile' which consisted of the blackcurrant stain from the blackcurrent and soda water that was consumed on game day and delivered by a smiling Don.
Other valued volunteers on the night who were recognised by Broadstreet for their services to the club are
Rick Skene - 30 Years Service to the club.
Peter Garlick - 30 Years Service to the club.
Bob Harcourt - 30 Years Service to the club.
Kev Sheriden accepts the award on behalf of Bob Harcourt
Congratulations to all Valuable Volunteers of Broadstreet RFC, without them the club would not be where it is today, Cheers Boys !
