The street edged near to an automatic promotion place with an entertaining display against struggling Longton RFC in an open exciting game at the Ivor Preece field. Street now only needing to win 2 out of the last 4 games to secure the automatic promotion place turned on the style with their most emphatic win of the season.

Warwickshire's Broadstreet started slowly in the spring sunshine and neither team made any in roads in the first few minutes until Longton strayed offside and street were awarded a penalty after 6 minutes. Dan Richards managed to hit the post sending the ball wide. Street then increase the pressure on the visitors and then the elusive Nick Thatcher made a clean break after 9 minutes and when in under the posts for the first of his 2 tries. Dan Richards added the conversion to put the street in front 7-0. The street were straight back down in the Longton half from the re start and were rewarded with a penalty after 10 minutes. Dan Richards made no mistake this time and street increased the lead to 10-0. Longton then played themselves back into the game with an excellent length of the field breakout after some sloppy play and haphazardous defending. Fly half Lee Brogan crossed the line and Scott Rawling added the conversion to take the score to 10-7.
Nick Thatcher then scored his second try of the game from close range with Richards adding the conversion. 17-7. On 39 minutes the pace of Full back Andy Mcgrory was too much for the Longton defence and he crossed the line unchallenged. Richards adding the conversion to Make the score 24-7.

Half Time 24-7

The second half was barely 2 minutes old when No 8 Mark Challis rounded off an excellent handling move with a 20-meter race to the line. Richards adding the conversion to increase the street's lead in the game to 31-7. Longton were under immense pressure by now and their heads were starting to drop when Richards having a fine afternoon with the boot crossed the line and then converted his own try. Three more tries were to follow, The first by the impressive Mukarati, The second by strong running winger James Hunt and then the try of the match by centre Lindsey Bishop. Bishop’s try was a well executed break involving 6 pairs of hands for the centre now playing on the wing to finish off in style. Richards only managed to convert one the three increasing the score to 55-7. Joint man of the Match Garry Challis was not to be outdone added Streets 9th try of the game on the stroke of full time and then converted his own try to take the final score to 62-7
