There's Always Next Year
A beautiful spring day, but not the results that Broadstreet wanted. A proud Street could only muster 11 players (Paul Love guesting at prop from Newbold) for the tournament at Southam. But in true Street style the show went on, and the five teams entered into the tournament played a round robin format. In true rugby traditions, camaraderie saw Street helped out by Leamington who supplied four players for the first match against Old Laurentians (Champions for the last 3 years), the match ended with OL's running out 20 - 6 winners. Street players were next in action guesting for Leamington, before the second match actually pitted Leamington against the Street, so it was hosts Southam who kindly loaned 4 players. Although keenly contested it was Leamington who ended victorious with a close 12 - 10 result. With the help of Southam and Old Coventrians players, Broadstreet went down 17 - 0 to the impressive OC's. The final match saw Broadstreet play the home side Southam who again evened up the numbers but still ran out 24 - 5 winners.
Tournament Winners were Old Coventrians who narrowly beat Old Laurentians 5 - 3 to take the honours, Southam finished in third followed by Leamington and Broadstreet. A big thank you goes out to Leamington, hosts Southam and Old Coventrians for their kind loan of players and for some great banter.
