It is with great sadness that we have to report the loss of Keith Lydster.

Keith Lydster has passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 23rd October 2012.  Many will be aware that Keith had been battling a serious illness for over two years during which time he was still to be seen at the club on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons assuring everybody that he was OK.  Good old Keith - strong to the end.

We had the great pleasure of playing with Keith in the early days. Keith was the ‘Merv the Swerve’ of Broadstreet - very strong and athletic, great tactician and lovely hands, great to play with and very sociable off the field, but always said it as it was - never pulled any punches.

A great stalwart of the club as a player, coach and committee member for more than fifty years, he will be sadly missed by us all, Old Dog Leg.

Our thoughts are with Joy, Jane, Paul, Family and Friends.

May he rest in peace.

The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday 7th November 2012 at midday at Saint James Fletchamstead, which is located at the junction of Westcotes and Tile Hill Lane, CV4 9DP.  The Service will be followed by the Burial at Canley Gardens Cemetery, Cannon Hill Road, CV4 7DF.  After the Burial, those that knew Keith are invited to Broadstreet Rugby Club in Binley Woods, CV3 2AY.

Family flowers only please, but if desired donations should be made payable to the Caroline McDonald Memorial Fund, care of The Co-operative Funeralcare, 11 Lower Holyhead Road, Coventry, CV1 3AX - Telephone 02476 225 826.

I remember Keith when I first came to Broadstreet as a 19 year old and he was the old head steering the then young 2nd Team that included the like's of Rasher, Pylon's, Trussy, Eaton, Fred Singh, Steve Barber and Gilly to name but a few. There were the games of draught's at Corby and the away trips to Gordon League. Great memories. Keith will be missed by many.
Rest in Peace.
