A foggy "Remembrance Sunday" morning saw the Street U15's take the short trip down the A45 to local rivals Rugby St Andrews RFC.

Having been second best in the corresponding fixture in recent seasons, but bolstered by some excellent performances so far this season, the Street lads arrived in a confident mood knowing to expect a tough match.

This proved to be the case; with both packs fighting for dominance in the early exchanges.

Street started to get on top in the latter stages of the first half with the powerful running of the back row and some impressive rucking.

One such passage of play saw Street make 40 meters with a series of phase plays and picks & drives, only for (2nd Row) Brendan McGuire to be adjudged to be "held up" over the line.

From the resulting 5 metre scrummage, (No.8) Sam Hirons broke and fed (Scrum Half) Jake Smith, who's quick footwork wrong-footed the defence, and despite a high tackle, wriggled over the line to score from the advantage.

The conversion was then added by (Captain & Inside Centre) Bill Holman

Half Time: Rugby St. Andrews RFC 0 - Broadstreet RFC 7

The second period saw more excellent play from both teams; with superb and physical tacking and rucking.

End to end rugby, with ball in hand was a pleasure to watch and drew positive comments from the many spectators on the touchline.

There was only one decisive chance for a 2nd period score for each team - (2nd Row) Harry Alden breaking 50 metres down the wing from the base of a ruck only to be tackled 3 metres short of the line and the pass to Smith not going to hand, and a great tackle into touch by (Flanker) Cam Beales, in the last minute to prevent a break-away try for Rugby St. Andrews RFC.

M-o-T-M:

(Tighthead Prop) Kamrun Bains - Covered every blade of grass on the pitch and set the defensive standard with some superb tackling and rucking.
