On Sunday 28th February 2016, during the half time break of the Aviva Premiership League match with Harlequins at the Ricoh Arena, Wasps Rugby presented a plaque to Street’s Chairman, Garry Watts, confirming Broadstreet RFC’s appointment as a Wasps’ Partner Rugby Club. Statement from Wasps: Wasps are pleased to be able to confirm that the club’s initial training base will be located at Broadstreet Rugby Club, Binley Woods, Coventry. The move has been approved by Broadstreet RFC’s Committee and planning permission has been applied for to erect new training facilities on the site, adjacent to the current clubhouse. Wasps’ will also employ sports-turf specialists Greenfields, who successfully manage the Ricoh Arena pitch, to start preparatory work on the training pitch that Wasps will use at Broadstreet. Broadstreet RFC welcomed current RFU president and world cup winner Jason Leonard to the Ivor Preece Centre in early January to deliver a training session and open forum along with Coventry lad Danny Grewcock. Following a successful training session with the young players here at Broadstreet the England legends retired to the clubhouse to discuss through an open forum rugby union and answered questions from the ammased audience. Wasps rugby recently ran a competition for a player to win the opportunity to be a mascot and run out with the Wasps players at the game against Newcastle Falcons which we covered here Harry Steele shows sporting spirit and its recognised by Wasps. We have now received the photos back from Harry and Alex's big day and wanted to share them all with the rest of the Broadstreet Boys, showing them how following the RFU's core values are rewarded where possible at Broadstreet RFC.
