Leamington fail to test!

An eager Broadstreet RFC squad made up of potential 1stXV / 2nd XV players tasted their first bite of 2009/2010 play as they swept aside a disapointing Leamington Squad on Saturday. The friendly trial match was played over 20 minute quarters and offered an opportunity for old and new combinations to acquaint themselves in preparation for the season ahead.

The Home side ran in a hat-full of tries as their pace, power and skills proved too much for a static Leamington defence - which I'm sure former Broadstreet player Al Roberts, Head Coach of Leamington will put right in the weeks to come.

The gap in the side's league status was evident as Leamington failed to create too many opportunities whereas Broadstreet through a mixture of excellent individual and team play seemed to create and finish a high percentage of their phases.

Broadstreet RFC will be looking to improve on their set play, handling, awareness and match fitness as the pre-season programme continues this Saturday 22/08/09 as we welcome Kidwelly RFC from Carmarthenshire.

Head Coach Lee Crofts and Forwards Coach Eddie Simkiss will be expecting a full turnout of 1stXV / 2nd XV players as they look to build to the start of the league campaign.
