It was December last year when Broadstreet entertained Westoe in the third round of the EDF trophy, since that fixture both The shieldsman and The Street achieved promotion from their respective leagues of the old Midlands 1 and North 1 achieving National League status. The last encounter was a tight affair with the Street gaining victory by a solitary point from the boot of Danny Richards in the 76th minute. Westoe again make the 410 mile round trip down to the midlands in their first encounter in league rugby with Broadstreet making the return trip to South Shields on February 13th.
Westoe did not have as happy a start to the national leagues as the Street with a tough opening match against Caldy followed by Harrogate. They gained their first points away at Loughborough Students so have already visited the midlands and gone home with a win loosing the following week narrowly to Preston Grasshoppers. They come to the Ivor Preece fields on a winning run with victories gained in the last two weeks against Hull and Kendal.
Broadstreet enter the encounter having gained one over the local rivals in the First Friday Night Floodlit encounter against Rugby Lions last Friday.
